Applicant Overview

Colette has heard about being a camp counselor from friends and family members. She would like to gain more childcare experience to help with her future career and believes this will be a great opportunity.

Colette would describe herself as approachable, adapatable, and hardworking.

Her family went on a trip where people dressed up in period clothing and she thought she had traveled back in time. This was when she fell in love with History and still loves it today.

Activity & Skills

Hiking – Colette would be able to help out with hiking at camp. She is from an outdoorsy family who always went on walks or hikes when she was growing up. She knows how to pitch a tent, read a map, and prepare safely for a trek. She was also a part of the Girl Scouts from ages 10-15 years old so constantly went on hiking and outdoors excursions.

 

Horseback Riding – Colette would be able to assist with horseback riding at camp. She took private and group lessons from the ages of 8 to 11 years old. During these lessons she learned how to walk, trot, muck up and tack up. She has been horseback riding since 11 on holidays and during the year occasionally. Colette is also apart of her university’s riding club where she rides at least once a week.

 

Arts & Crafts – Colette would be able to teach arts & crafts to campers. When she was in high school she took a textile course which had her gain knowledge on sewing and creating projects. She has made pillows, bags, pencil cases, and knows how to cross stitch. Colette also knows how to properly dye fabrics and could make friendship bracelets with the campers.

 

Photography – Colette would be able to help out with photography at camp. Her uncles and brothers are big into taking pictures and there are always cameras around the house. She knows how to properly take a picture and would be able to help campers learn basic photography techniques.

Other Information

Colette has babysat a lot for her cousins growing up. She has helped with their morning and afternoon routines of bringing to school, making meals, and then helping with homework for many years. She also volunteered at a elementary school for 2 weeks helping as a teacher’s assistant. At church Colette was a Young Server for 6 years, during her last 3 years as a Server she would manage the younger Servers to make sure they were following her directions. She has also worked at her churches fairs for the past 3 years at the arts & crafts stall. Colette has worked at her high school library for a year. During this year she would train other volunteers as they came in on the rules of the library.
